Transparency and respect for your privacy are fundamental pillars of bananatribe. In compliance with European data protection regulations (GDPR / Spanish LOPD-GDD), you can request the complete and irreversible deletion of your profile and all associated data at any time, directly from the app without sending emails or waiting for manual approvals.
Step 1: Where to find the deletion option
1. Tap your avatar photo in the top right corner of the app header. 2. Select "Profile" (👤). 3. In the tab sidebar on the left, make sure you are on the first tab: "Personal" (👤 icon). 4. Scroll to the bottom of the page: below the email field and the password change button, you will find the section highlighted in red: "Delete account".
Step 2: What happens when you delete your account?
Before proceeding, the app displays a clear warning outlining which data is removed permanently:
- ❌ Profile and identity: nickname, bio, avatar photo, and date of birth are deleted. - ❌ Medical card and SOS contacts: all medical information (blood type, allergies, medications) and the I.C.E. emergency contact book are instantly erased. - ❌ All your posted content: Marketplace listings, job vacancies/offers, organized events, and urgent SOS alerts (Pet Alert and Human Alert) are removed from the platform. - ❌ Favorites, areas, and gamification: saved areas, starred favorites, accumulated points, Triber level, and earned badges (including the historic Founding Member badge) are permanently lost. - 💬 Chat messages: messages sent in public channels remain so as not to break the conversational flow of community groups, but your name and photo are removed and replaced by the anonymous label "Deleted User".
Step 3: Security confirmation flow
To prevent accidental deletions, the process requires deliberate double confirmation:
1. Tap the red "Delete account" button: - A security card will slide up from the bottom ("Delete account permanently"). 2. Check the mandatory confirmation checkbox: - ☑️ "I understand that deletion is permanent." - The confirmation button remains disabled until this box is checked. 3. Tap the red "Delete permanently" button (or tap "Cancel" if you change your mind).
Step 4: Completion and immediate sign-out
- The app processes the request in real time: your session is terminated, device cache is cleared, and you are redirected to the Home screen as a guest visitor. - A green message will confirm the action: "Your account has been deleted." - Deletion is immediate and irreversible: you will no longer be able to log in with your old password or recover your history.
